Afterglow Music Visualizer Privacy Policy
Effective October 21, 2026
Afterglow Music Visualizer collects nothing. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it contains no third-party code. The app never contacts the developer or any other server, so no information about you or your Mac reaches the developer.
Audio
Afterglow listens to the audio playing on your Mac, or to an input device you choose, such as a microphone, to animate its visualizations. macOS asks your permission first. Audio is analyzed in memory as it plays and is never saved. You can switch listening off, or to a built-in demo signal, at any time with the Audio input button.
Streaming to a TV
When you choose an AirPlay TV or a Chromecast, Afterglow turns the visualization and its sound into a live video stream and serves it over your local network to the TV you chose. The stream goes to that TV only, never to the developer or to the internet, and stops when you stop streaming. AirPlay is handled by macOS. For a Chromecast, Afterglow tells the device the stream's local address, and the device plays it with Google's built-in media player; what the TV does with it is covered by its maker's privacy policy.
Local network
To find Chromecasts, Afterglow looks for them on your local network. The device names it finds are shown in the Chromecast menu and are not kept or sent anywhere.
Images you choose
If you choose a picture for the Image background, Afterglow reads it to draw the background. It is not copied, kept after you quit or sent anywhere.
Settings
Afterglow saves your graphics settings, your Color studio custom colors, and whether you have seen the getting started tour, on your Mac and never sends them anywhere. To remove them, delete the folder ~/Library/Containers/app.afterglow.visualizer.
Information from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your Mac's settings, Apple may share crash reports and anonymous usage statistics with the developer. Apple's handling of that information is described in Apple's privacy policy.
Children
Afterglow collects no information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published here and in the app, with a new effective date.
Contact
Questions about this policy can be sent to the developer through the support link on Afterglow's App Store page.
